Кобзарско-лирницкую традицию Украины включили в реестр ЮНЕСКО

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture.

The head of the ministry, Nikolai Tochitsky, described this decision as significant. The idea and preparation of the nomination fully belong to the practitioners, while the ministry provided its support.

“For us, this is an acknowledgment of our values, culture, uniqueness, and identity... The Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Lviv kobzar guilds have vividly demonstrated that the preservation of living tradition depends on its bearers. It remains alive when there are those who carry it forward,” he stated.

The minister noted that modern kobzars, much like their ancestors during the Cossack era, uphold the fighting spirit of Ukrainian defenders and inspire them to strive for freedom and independence.

According to government data, 133 Ukrainian cultural figures have already lost their lives during the war, including six members of the kobzar guilds who stood up to defend Ukraine.

“While the enemy attempts to destroy our identity by demolishing cultural institutions and killing artists, we continue to fight,” the minister said.
