The UN General Assembly will review two resolutions regarding the war in Ukraine, one initiated by 58 countries and another proposed by the United States.

This is reported by Ukrinform and Associated Press.

According to the Ukrainian news agency, the collective project was initiated by 58 countries. They urge Russia to "immediately, fully, and unconditionally withdraw all its armed forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders."

Among the authors are all the countries of the European Union, including Hungary and Slovakia, the vast majority of other European nations, particularly the United Kingdom, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Georgia, as well as Canada, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Liberia, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Palau, and others.

At the same time, AP reports that The United States has proposed its own UN resolution. The brief document acknowledges the "tragic loss of life during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict" and "calls for the conflict to be resolved as soon as possible and for a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia to be established."

The day before, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that "the time has come to commit to ending the war." He mentioned that, "while challenges may arise, the goal of lasting peace remains achievable," and that with the resolution "we affirm that this conflict is horrific, that the UN can help end it, and that peace is possible."

Russia's ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, told reporters that the U.S. resolution is a "good step."

Earlier, the Washington Post, citing its own sources, reported that the U.S. urged Ukrainian authorities to withdraw the UN resolution condemning Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and replace it with a "softer" statement.
