This is reported by “Suspilne” and “Graty”.
According to the publication “Suspilne”, the judge partially granted the prosecutor's request and ordered Galushkin to be held in custody for 60 days, allowing for bail set at 5 million hryvnias.
At the same time, “Graty” indicates that he has been placed under house arrest for two months.
The preventive measure for the general was chosen in a closed session. After the hearing, his lawyer Mikhail Velichko stated that his client does not admit guilt and will appeal the court's decision.
Galushkin's defense insisted that the judge deny the prosecutor's request for the general's arrest and release him in the courtroom.
Prior to this, another suspect in the case, Colonel Ilya Lapin, was taken into custody.
The day before, on January 20, law enforcement detained former commanders responsible for the defense of the Kharkiv region. They are suspected of negligence that led to the capture of part of the region's territory in early May 2024.
Among those detained are former commander of the operational-tactical group “Kharkiv” Yuriy Galushkin, former commander of the 125th brigade Arthur Gorbenko, and former commander of the 415th separate rifle battalion of the 23rd brigade, suspected of organizing the unauthorized abandonment of the battlefield.
As early as May 2024, the State Bureau of Investigations began an investigation into the breach of Russian troops across the border in the Kharkiv region. In particular, the investigation into the unauthorized abandonment of the battlefield and negligent attitude towards military service involved the command of the 125th brigade.
In the brigade itself, they denied the retreat of their units from the defensive positions they held, calling it “a blatant piece of information warfare.” Moreover, after reports in the media about the initiation of investigations into the breach in the Kharkiv region, the military brigade called to “stop the information attacks” against their unit.
“Some say that [we] allowed the enemy to pass into Volchansk, although that is a completely different front, and the units of the 125th brigade were never there and should not have been”, the brigade wrote.
Later, brigade commander Arthur Gorbenko announced that he is resigning from his position. Gorbenko himself did not specify the reason for his resignation but noted that he would continue to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The 125th separate territorial defense brigade reacted to the detention of their former commander Arthur Gorbenko. They stated that his guilt has not yet been proven, and in court, they want to tell the “real truth”.
